RTA Expands Public Transport Network with New Bus Routes in Dubai

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is set to enhance the city’s public transport network by expanding its bus services to meet increasing demand. In a recent discussion with public transport users, RTA explored proposals to introduce new intra-city and intercity routes, aiming to improve connectivity and ensure seamless integration with the metro, tram, and marine transport services.

As part of its efforts to create a more efficient transport system, RTA has encouraged residents to suggest new bus and marine routes through the S’hail app. This interactive platform allows users to propose and vote on routes, enabling RTA to assess public needs and implement new services accordingly.

Currently, Dubai’s buses serve as a vital part of the public transport system, carrying 89.2 million passengers in the first half of this year, accounting for 24.5% of the total public transport ridership. To further optimize travel, RTA has also introduced a “bus pooling” service, allowing passengers to share minibus rides booked via smart apps. Initially available in Deira, this service connects key business districts such as Business Bay, Dubai Mall, Mirdif, and Dubai Festival City, with plans for expansion across the city.

These initiatives reaffirm RTA’s commitment to improving public transportation and enhancing commuter convenience. With a growing emphasis on sustainable and smart mobility solutions, Dubai is moving towards a more connected, efficient, and commuter-friendly transport network.
